Since 1968, the Air Force aerobatic team (EVAA) has been present at airshows and competitions, in France and around the world. Together with the Patrouille de France, it forms the Air Force presentation teams. Composed of six pilots, seven mechanics, two photographers, a communications officer and an operations officer, the EVAA participates each year in around forty air events, in France and abroad. The pilots perform “Free Integral” flights, made up of multiple gyroscopic figures, highlighted by the smoke, all accompanied by music.
High-level sportsmen (SHN), the unit’s pilots take part in federal competitions in France and international competitions for those selected for the French team.
Excellence in this discipline is acquired through rigor and training. Because of its results, the aerobatic team represents the expertise of the Air and Space Army aviators at mastering the third dimension.
